Korea is located in East Asia. Korea has had a long history dating back to 2,333 B.C for over 5,000 years. This section follows the History of Korea from the prehistoric age to its current era. Typography, which is the metal art of printing, was first invented in Korea.  About 600 years ago Korea developed Hangul, one of the most creative and beautiful languages in the world. Korea’s diverse history opened the way to present-day achievements.

Korea was the host country for Olympic Games in 1988 and for the World Cup football game in 2002. Korea has the 12th largest economy in the world.  The city of Seoul is the center of government, business, and culture. The city’s numerous schools, universities, museums and libraries are highly regarded educational resources. The Korean people are known for their passion for education and have deep roots in Korea’s long-held respect for knowledge and for life-long human development. The largest number of international students in the USA is Korean.  Many Korean students have chosen to attend schools in the USA to expand their educational experiences. Korean desires to strengthen relationships among all the peoples of the world.  Cultural exchange programs are vehicles that drive the Koreans’ desire to contribute to world peace.
